Gremlins win, advance to state finals

It’s been a wild ride for the Houghton Gremlins hockey team, as they are just inches away from the Division 3 state final. Standing in their way today were Flint Powers Catholic.

The Gremlins have a quick pregame meeting to discuss how many goals they will score. Early first period, Houghton looking for some quick offense and unbeknownst to the goalie, *Eric Walter* showed up and scored. Gremlins strike first, with a one-nothing lead.

Later in the first, *John Bostwick* at the right circle, finds *Reid Pietela* for the wrister. He scores and Houghton is up 2-zilch. Closing moments of the first and *Wyatt Liston* joins the party. He scores and the Gremlins are up 3 after one period of play and the fans love it.

Jump to the third period, Gremlins deep in Flint Powers zone and *Jacob Kruse* puts it between the pipes and Houghton can smell the victory.

Final seconds, puck is cleared and baby we are going to the finals. The Houghton Gremlins win by a final score of 4 to 1. They will go on to play Cranbrook tomorrow at 2pm in Plymouth.
