HIAWATHA — Three people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on M-28 Saturday.

Chocolay Township Police officers responded to the accident at about 12:15 p.m. just east of Hiawatha.

Police say Gretchen Klasner, of Marquette, was traveling eastbound on the highway in a red Subaru and lost control of the vehicle. Her car spun into the path of a westbound silver Nissan being driven by Patricia Williams, also of Marquette.

Both drivers were transported to U.P. Health System Marquette, as was Williams’ daughter, who was riding passenger in the Nissan. There is no word yet on the extent of their injuries.

The crash is still under investigation and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Assisting on scene were Michigan State Police, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Chocolay Township Fire Department and U.P. Health System Marquette EMS.
