Maroons reflect on their 12-1 record
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Menominee Maroons football team made it back to the Division 5 semifinals again this season, but they could not solve the puzzle known as Grand Rapids West Catholic. The Maroons and Falcons traded blows for the first three quarters Saturday at the Superior Dome.
In the end, West Catholic quarterback Travis Russell was the difference in the game, throwing for five touchdowns, as the Falcons won the game, 42-24.
“Travis Russell is extremely smart, well tuned quarterback who gets the ball off and they scheme him very well where you just can’t get to him,” said Menominee head coach Joe Noha. “I can’t say enough about my guys. They’re totally committed to the cause. They trained all winter long, getting up at six in the morning to weight train. We’re trying to build a foundation to continue to have high expectations at Menominee. I love those guys and they played very hard.”
The Maroons finished the season with a 12-1 record.
