LANSING — The DNR has decided to allow supplemental deer feeding, by permit, across the U.P. beginning on December 15th.

DNR Wildlife Division chief Russ Mason says it looks like the U.P. will hit the snow depth triggers for supplemental feeding about a month earlier than usual.

He says the region is on pace for its third consecutive difficult winter for deer. Mason also says the U.P. has not had continuously severe winter weather conditions of this magnitude since the early 1970s.

The DNR has full details on the feeding rules and regulations online at michigan.gov/dnrlaws.
