Residents advised to stay off roads in Mackinac County due to hazardous conditions

ST. IGNACE — Mackinac County Sheriff Scott Strait is advising residents to stay inside and not drive on the roadways unless absolutely necessary.  Road conditions are deteriorating and are hazardous at this time due to snowy and windy conditions.

A band of heavy snow is moving through St. Ignace with visibility less than a quarter mile in some locations.

The Mackinac Bridge is currently under a blowing snow warning, and motorists should be prepared for limited visibility and slippery roads.  Speed is reduced to 20 miles per hour.  The latest bridge conditions can be found here.
