UPDATE: Alcohol may be a factor in Negaunee accident

UPDATE: 4:35 p.m.

NEGAUNEE — Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a two-vehicle accident in Negaunee Monday morning.

The Negaunee Police Department says Christa Laforest, 43, of Negaunee was driving a Chrysler Pacifica eastbound on U.S. 41 and attempted to make a left turn onto Baldwin Avenue.  Laforest failed to yield to an oncoming westbound Doge Ram pick-up truck driven by Dan Rose, 69, of Negaunee.

Laforest was transported to U.P. Health System Marquette for the treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.  Her vehicle was towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.


NEGAUNEE — One person is recovering from injuries after a car accident in Negaunee this morning.

It happened at the intersection of US-41 and Baldwin Avenue just before 10 a.m.

No official information is available about exactly what happened. However, a silver Chrysler Pacifica appeared to have slid off of the highway and was halfway in a snowbank in front of the Honor Credit Union building.

An ambulance brought the driver to U.P. Health System Bell with unknown injuries.

The Negaunee Police, the Negaunee Fire Department and Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post also responded to the accident scene.
