WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin announced support for the Stephenson Volunteer Fire Department to improve operations and safety.  This $104,937 grant comes through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

“Today’s announcement is great news for the Stephenson Volunteer Fire Department and families in Menominee County,” said Stabenow. “Our first responders risk their lives to keep our families safe, and they rely on these resources to do their jobs safely.”

“Every day, first responders in Stephenson stand ready to protect lives and property in their community,” said Levin. “This grant will support the brave firefighters and EMTs of the Stephenson VFD in their difficult and dangerous work.”

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  These competitive grants will help fund professional training programs, update equipment and facilities, and provide new supplies to help first-responders handle hazards efficiently and effectively.
