Negaunee names a new boys basketball coach
Dan Waterman has been officially hired as the new boys varsity basketball coach at Negaunee. Waterman’s hire was approved by the Negaunee School Board Monday night. He replaces Mike O’Donnell, who left Negaunee to coach the men’s basketball team at Finlandia.
Waterman has spent the last four seasons coaching the boys basketball team at Munising. Prior to that, he spent four years as an assistant head coach at Northern Michigan University for the men’s basketball program.
Waterman coached for three seasons at Westwood High School. He played for the Patriots in high school, where he learned the game from longtime Westwood head coach and U.P. basketball coaching icon Irv Dieterle.
ABC 10 Sports Director Jerry Taylor will talk with Coach Waterman on Tuesday at 5:30pm on ABC 10.
