Saturday was a fun but bittersweet day for 38 Upper Peninsula basketball players. The recently graduated seniors had the opportunity to play in one more game wearing their high school names and colors.
The girls game came down to the wire. The North Team defeated the South Team 75-72. Houghton’s Elisa Jurmu was the MVP with 31 points. Vanessa Freberg of Superior Central led the South Team with 24 points.
The boys game had quite the opposite outcome. The North Team ran away from the South, winning it 114-67. Negaunee’s Tyler Jandron was named the MVP of the boys game with 18 points.
The 2015 Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame All-Star Basketball will be held in Marquette.
