Former Forest Park basketball star Lexi Gussert has been getting herself ready for what will be a very busy summer at Michigan State.
About a month ago, Lexi received a workout packet from Suzy Merchant, her future head coach at MSU. Gussert is in the gym twice a week, working with her dad, Scott.
Lexi works on her game for two hours at a time. She is also in the weight room three times a week, preparing herself to play in the gauntlet known as the Big Ten Conference.
“Getting up in the gym with my dad has been great. I’m glad he’s there,” said Gussert. “It’s going to be a huge transition going from high school to college, but I know (Spartans head coach) Suzy (Merchant) and the rest of the staff will do a great job.”
Gussert heads down to East Lansing on June 25. Michigan State is ranked as the number eight team in the nation according to ESPN’s Pre–Preseason Top 25 rankings.
