Jurmu signs on to play basketball at Tech

A Copper Country prep star is staying in the Copper Country to continue her basketball career. Houghton’s Elisa Jurmu had quite the senior year for the Gremlins girls basketball team. The Houghton forward guided Houghton to an 18-2 record this season. On Wednesday, Jurmu decided to stick around the area and lace up her basketball shoes for a few more years.

Jurmu signed her National Letter of Intent to play for Kim Cameron at Michigan Tech. The 5’9″ Jurmu averaged 20 points per game this past season. She was named to the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Dream Team for a second straight season. Jurmu was also named the West-PAC player of the year.

In addition to those honors, Jurmu was also named the Associated Press Class ‘B’ All-State team.
