Judges switch roles in Marquette Co. Circuit Court
The Marquette County Circuit Court has reshuffled its bench.
Chief Circuit Judge Thomas L. Solka made the decision to switch roles with Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi at the start of the new year.
Judge Solka reassigned himself back to the family division where he served from 2003 through 2008.
The move shifts Judge Mazzuchi to the criminal and civil division, where she will hear all felony and civil cases in the 25th Judicial Circuit Court.
According to Judge Solka, “The Family Court Act gives the Chief Circuit Judge authority and flexibility to determine the duration of a judge’s service in the family court with the goal of developing expertise in family law. Judge Mazzuchi has achieved that expertise and served with distinction in the family division since her election in 2008. I am confident she will bring the same level of service to the civil and criminal division of this court.”
Judge Solka’s office said this type of reassignment is not out of the ordinary, and it often happens every few years.
Marquette County Probate Judge Cheryl Hill will continue hearing child abuse, neglect, and juvenile delinquency cases in addition to probate court cases.
