MTU women slip past Ferris State
The Michigan Tech University women’s basketball team defeated Ferris State by the slimmest of margins, 71-70 on Thursday night at the Student Development Center in Houghton.
The Huskies trailed the Bulldogs 44-34 at the end of the first half. Ferris State increased that lead to 16 points early in the second half, before the Huskies began their comeback. Tech made nine 3-point shots in the final 20 minutes of the game to come away with the one point victory.
Michigan Tech sophomore guard Mackenzie Perttu led all scorers with 26 points. The Huskies (11-2, 9-0 GLIAC) are next in action on Saturday, Jan 18. against Grand Valley State. Tip-off between the Lakers and Huskies is set for 1 p.m.
