Man who fled police, crashed into building sentenced
A Ramsay man who injured his head on a metal clothesline while running from police in Bessemer Township has been sentenced to jail time.
Jonathan Haley, 23, was in Gogebic County District Court Tuesday. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail with credit for 36 days on two charges: fleeing and eluding a police officer in the fourth degree and one count of OWI. He also has to pay more than $1,200 in fines.
Police say Haley was riding a four-wheeler in the middle of U.S. 2 in Bessemer Township in September when he failed to stop for police. He reportedly ended up crashing into a building before fleeing on foot and eventually running into a metal clothesline pole.
