The man who crashed his vehicle into Ishpeming High school over a week ago was arraigned in the Ishpeming Branch of Marquette County District Court.
Joseph Pennala, 29, is charged with resisting/obstructing a police officer, a felony punishable by up to two years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine; failure to stop at a personal injury accident, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $1,00 fine; and OWI, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail and/or a $100-$500 fine.
Police say Pennala’s Jeep Cherokee hit Ishpeming High School just before 2 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, on the north side of the building. When officers arrived, the Jeep was stuck into the wall.
Witnesses say Pennala fled the scene and ran away on foot.
Pennala will be in court for a preliminary exam on November 5.
