Coreau to start season with Red Wings
Former Northern Michigan University goaltender Jared Coreau will start the 2013-14 regular season with the Detroit Red Wings.
Coreau will serve as the Wings backup goalie on Wednesday, Oct. 2, when Detroit begins the regular season at home against Buffalo. Jimmy Howard is Detroit’s starting goaltender.
Back in March, the Red Wings signed Coreau after he decided to forgo his senior season at NMU. Coreau will serve as Howard’s backup until Jonas Gustavsson rejoins the Red Wings.
Gustavsson is recovering from a groin injury that could keep him out 2-4 weeks.
