Flivvers, Miners win tennis titles
Two high school girls tennis teams were crowned conference champions on Wednesday. The Kingsford Flivvers won the Great Northern Conference Championship and the Negaunee Miners won the Mid-Peninsula Conference Championship.
At the GNC Championship in Kingsford, the Flivvers won seven of the eight flights, earning 47 points. Escanaba finished in second with 31 points, followed by Marquette in third with 27.
The Negaunee Miners won the MPC title with 38 points. Westwood edged out Iron Mountain, 30-29, for second place.
The U.P. Division 1 and Division 2 Championships will be held next week at Kingsford H.S. and Westwood H.S.
