Marquette dog show preview
Dogs from all over the country will be in Marquette throughout the holiday weekend.
The Marquette Kennel Club is getting ready for its 38th annual dog show at Lakeview Arena.
Three hundred dogs will be competing on Saturday, and nearly that many will be there on the other two days.
But perhaps the most fun part of the show takes place Friday night.
“Local people can bring their (American Kennel Club)-registered dogs to what is called a fun match, where they can show their own dog like they would see on TV,” Marquette Kennel Club treasurer and publicity chair Mary Lee Kirkum said. “It costs $7. Everybody would get a ribbon of some type; they could say their dog has been in a dog show.”
The events begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Each day ends at 3 p.m. except for the Friday fun match, which doesn’t start until 5.
Admission is $3 per day or $5 for all three days.
