Grosse Pointe falls in LLWS opener
The opening game for Grosse Pointe Woods Shores at the Little League Baseball World Series needed extra innings on Friday to determine a winner. In the end, Grosse Pointe, Mich., fell to Chula Vista, Calif., 3-0, in seven innings.
G.P. Woods Shores pitcher Chad Lorkowski pitched six innings on the mound. Lorkowski gave up just one hit and he struck out 12 batters.
California opened the scoring in the top of the seventh inning, as Patrick Archer delivered a single up the middle with the bases loaded to give California a 2-0 lead. California would score three runs in the top half of the seventh inning.
Grant Holman pitched a no-hitter for California. He struck out 13 batters in seven innings of work.
