Two vehicle accident in Iron Mountain

A woman had to be extracted from her vehicle following a two car accident in Iron Mountain Monday afternoon.

The Iron Mountain Police Department says the accident happened just after 2 p.m CST on US-2 near Ridgeview Drive.

A vehicle driven by a 53-year-old woman from Norway pulled out of a private road onto US-2.  She was struck broadsided by a second vehicle that was westbound on US-2 that was driven by a 22-year-old Norway woman.  The Breitung Township Fire Department helped extract the 53-year-old woman from her vehicle.

The 22-year-old woman sought her own treatment for injuries at Dickinson County Hospital.  The 53-year-old woman was also taken to Dickinson County Hospital by Beacon Ambulance for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

She was also cited for Failing to Yield the Right of Way.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post of the Michigan State Police, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and the Iron Mountain Fire Department assisted at the scene.
