Child exposed to meth chemicals

A child was exposed to methamphetamine chemicals at a park in Iron River Wednesday morning.

Officers from the Iron River Police Department responded to Bachman Park at around 11:30 a.m. after an 8-year-old child had been exposed to an unknown liquid while playing at the park.

A container with an unknown liquid was found.  Four additional containers were found at Nanaimo Park.

Methamphetamine Specialists from the UPSET narcotics team determined that they were meth precursor materials.

The child was not injured.

Iron River Police were assisted by Trooopers from the Michigan State Police at the Iron Mountain Post and detectives from the UPSET Methmaphetamine Task Force.
