NMU Men fall at Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team wrapped up the non-conference and 2012 portion of its schedule, dropping a 64-45 decision at Lewis University on Sunday (Dec. 30).

The Wildcats are now 2-8 on the season while the Flyers extended their winning streak to five games and are now 6-2.

Junior forward Matthew Craggs was the only Wildcat in double figures with 10 points. Freshman Matt Iverson had nine points and sophomore forward Kendall Jackson added eight.

NMU shot only 30.2 percent from the floor and were 4-of-17 (23.5 percent) from the three-point line.

Ryan Jackson’s 14 points were a game-high as Jeff Jarosz (12) and Gabe Williams (11) were also in double figures for the home squad.

Lewis also shot under 40 percent (38.5) but scored 22 points on NMU’s 18 turnovers. The Flyers also outrebounded the ‘Cats 40-36.

Northern gets back to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, hosting Ashland and Lake Erie next weekend at the Berry Events Center.
