Winter X Games cuts U.P. natives event
The 2013 Winter X-Games have decided to cut several events from its lineup, including one that involves a professional U.P. snowboarder.
ESPN and the Winter X-Games have eliminated three events: ski and snowboard cross, and as mono skier cross. Ski and snowboard cross are two of the games longest running events.
Back in 2011, Nick Baumgartner (Iron River) won the gold medal in snowboard cross. This past year, he took home the silver medal.
On his official Facebook page, Baumgartner shared his feelings about the decision. “How lame is this? “Let’s get us back to put on an awesome show.”
“Snowboard X” officially became an Olympic sport back in 2006.
