Negaunee School Board Approved Budget
The Negaunee Public School Board of Education held its annual budget hearing tonight. The board approved the general fund budget for the 2012–2013 school year.
A few assumptions had to be made based on enrollment.
Right now the board is anticipating 1,484 students enrolled for the next school year. The current budget deficit is $273,203.
New state regulations now require all day kindergarten class. This caused a bit of confusion for balancing the budget.
Tonight’s board meeting went into closed session regarding an update on negotiations with teachers in the Negaunee Education Association.
