Ontonagon Fatal Accident

A man is dead after a car accident in Ontonagon early Monday morning.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department says it happened shortly before 1 am Monday on M-64.
Police say 35-year-old Steel Blue Veldman of Ontonagon went off the highway to the right near Superior Way.
He lost control of his vehicle and crossed over to the left-hand side of the road.
Veldman was thrown from the vehicle when it overturned and went into some brush on the roadside.
He died at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.
The accident is still under investigation, but police say excessive speed and lack of seatbelt use were factors in it.
Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post, the Ontonagon Fire Department and a wrecker from Big Valley Ford in Ewen all assisted at the scene.
