New Year's Financial Fitness
We’re now a month into 2012, and one popular New Year’s resolution involves saving money or getting fit financially.
And one local bank is used to people stopping by after january 1st to start.
Assistant vice president Gregory Seppanen works in the trust department at Superior National Bank in Hancock, and he’s seen this before.
He says in the first few weeks of every year, quite a few people come in asking for help in setting up an IRA — an individual retirement account.
As a savings specialist, Greg knows just where to begin.
He suggests visiting a bank and speaking with someone about your financial situation.
If you don’t know whether or not your employer offers a 401(k) savings plan, Greg says you should ask.
Many employers will match your 401(k) contributions, which is basically free money.
Better start soon, though — many experts say you have about two weeks before most people drop their new year’s resolutions for good.
