NMU Men’s B-Ball also on the road for 2 GLIAC games

MARQUETTE, Mich.- Fresh off of a weekend sweep of Tiffin and Ohio
Dominican, the Northern Michigan men’s basketball team hits the road this weekend to face a pair of divisional foes.
The Wildcats will travel to Grand Valley State on Dec. 18 and then head
over to Ferris State the next day on Dec. 19.
NMU is coming off of an 83-75 win over Tiffin and an 81-69 win over Ohio Dominican to get back to the .500 mark on the season. The ‘Cats enter their road trip at 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
First up for the ‘Cats is GVSU. The Lakers enter the contest at 5-2
overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC, having recently defeated Rochester College 62-53 (Dec.10) in a non-conference matchup. GVSU is led by senior guard James Thomas. The senior leads the Lakers in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds.
NMU is 30-40 all-time versus GVSU dating back to the 1973-74 season, with the Lakers taking 10 of the last 12 contests including both meetings last season.
Tipoff is set for 3 p.m., Sunday (Dec. 18).
Next up for the ‘Cats is the north division leading Ferris State Bulldogs.
FSU comes into the contest at 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the GLIAC. Of the
Bulldogs three losses, two are against NCAA DI teams in the University of Michigan and Central Michigan University. The Bulldogs are led by junior guard Kenny Brown. The junior is averaging 15.7 points per game and 4.2 rebounds.
NMU is 66-51 all-time against FSU dating back to the 1925-26 season, with the Bulldogs winning six straight in the series.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., Monday (Dec. 19).
