NMU Women’s B-Ball team hits the road for GLIAC Conference action

MARQUETTE, Mich.- Looking to continue its momentum off of its first
conference win of the season, the Northern Michigan women’s basketball team hits the road this weekend for a pair of conference matchups.

The Wildcats will travel to Grand Valley State on Dec. 18 and then head
over to Ferris State the next day on Dec. 19.

NMU is coming off of a 62-54 loss to Tiffin and a 69-50 win over Ohio
Dominican to get back to get within one game of .500 mark on the season.
The ‘Cats enter their road trip at 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

First up for the ‘Cats is GVSU. The Lakers enter the contest at 4-4
overall and 1-2 in the GLIAC, having recently defeated Rochester College 79-45 (Dec.10) in a non-conference matchup. GVSU is led by junior guard Brittany Taylor. The junior leads the Lakers in scoring, averaging 11.6 points per game and 5.1 rebounds.

NMU is 37-37 all-time versus GVSU dating back to the 1975-76 season, with the Lakers taking 4 of the last 5 contests including both meetings last season.

Tipoff is set for 1 p.m., Sunday (Dec. 18).

Next up for the ‘Cats is the Ferris State Bulldogs. FSU comes into the
contest at 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC. FSU comes in winners of it
last two, with victories over Ohio Dominican and Northwood. The Bulldogs are led by sophomore guard Sarah DeShone. The sophomore is averaging 15.2 points per game and 5.5 assists.

NMU is 41-23 all-time against FSU dating back to the 1975-76 season, with the ‘Cats winning three of the last four in the series. The two teams split the series last season, with both schools winning on their home court.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m., Monday (Dec. 19).
