Ellingson Named CCHA Goaltender of the Week

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Senior Reid Ellingson, of the Northern Michigan hockey team, has been named Central Collegiate Goaltender of the Week after his performance against the No. 4 University of Notre Dame. The Wildcats and Fighting Irish tied 2-2 on Friday (Nov. 4) and 1-1 on Saturday (Nov. 5). NMU won the shootout 1-0 both nights.
The 5-11 goaltender, from Cloquet, Minn., started both nights, stopping 69 of the 72 Irish shots. He made 25 saves on Friday (Nov. 4) and a season-high 44 saves on Saturday (Nov. 5). Ellingson had a .958 save percentage and a 1.38 goals against average. He also didn’t allow a goal in the two shootouts on six Notre Dame tries. For the season, Ellingson is 3-2-2 with a .934 save percentage and a 1.98 goals against average.
NMU jumped up a few spots to No. 14 this week in the latest USCHO.com poll. The ‘Cats travel to Ohio State over the weekend for a CCHA road series.
