Murder Arraignment Cancelled

The arraignment for an Ishpeming murder suspect gets called off.

46-year-old Leslie Bushong was scheduled to have his Circuit Court arraignment in Marquette this morning.

Court staff say they were told Bushong would be pleading not guilty by mail.

They didn’t actually receive a written plea from his and his lawyer before the arraignment, but they cancelled it anyway.

Bushong’s next court date is a scheduling conference a week from tomorrow.

51-year-old Wayne Perry of Ishpeming was found unconscious at Bushong’s house on January 5th.

Perry died at Bell Hospital.

His autopsy found a large blood clot in his brain that experts believe was caused by a blow, or blows, to the head.

Bushong is accused of 2nd-degree murder.
