Marquette Street Closures

With the wind gusts coming from the lake, Marquette residents are in for various closings.

That includes one of the city’s busiest streets being partially shut down.

Lakeshore Boulevard is closed from Fair Avenue to Holly Street.

With the strong winds, waves build up and break over the rock retaining wall in the harbor.

Marquette DPW head Scott Cambensy says that carries debris onto the street and causes major safety issues.

Lakeshore is often closed when the weather is this bad, but it doesn’t often extend beyond that.

This time, though, the closure extended to Fair Avenue as well.

Cambensy says the closures should stay in place until the weather conditions are better.

The drains will be cleaned then, and that’ll carry the debris away.
