Marquette Teen Drowns in Garden
State police from the Manistique Post are still looking tonight into the drowning of a 15-year-old boy from Marquette over the weekend.
Police say they got the call shortly after 2am yesterday.
They say they were told the boy was missing in the Van’s Harbor area of Lake Michigan, near Garden.
The boy was thought to have been in a canoe that capsized.
A civilian search party found the boy in 8 to 10 feet of water and brought him to shore.
They performed CPR on him until EMTs arrived.
The teen was pronounced dead in the ER at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.
His name has not been released yet.
State police say they believe alcohol use was probably a factor in his death.
