Granholm Heading on Another Investment Trip

Governor Jennifer Granholm is on yet another trip halfway around the world to attract jobs and global investment to Michigan.

She’s heading to Germany and Belgium.

And she’ll talk with leaders of high-tech companies that she thinks can help Michigan add jobs in green technology and alternative fuels.

The governor has said these are just the sorts of industries she wants to nurture in Michigan, and she’s said that earlier trips she’s made have both created new jobs and preserved existing ones.

This will be the 8th time she’s gone overseas on an investment mission since 2004.

She also planned another trip to Israel and Kuwait last year that had to be cancelled when she went in for emergency surgery.

Word of this latest trip comes on the same day that most state employees are being forced to take the day off without pay as a cost-cutting move.
