Noquemanon Marathon Entries Down

One of the Midwest’s premier cross-country ski events is returning this weekend on a somewhat smaller scale.

The Noquemanon Ski Marathon is this Saturday, and while it’s still expected to bring hundreds into the U.P., the numbers are slightly down from years past.

Race administrator Nicole DeWald is expecting the field to top out at about 1,000 skiers.

She says she expected lower numbers with the struggling economy and bitter-cold temperatures, but the biggest reason might be a technical one.

Some people have encountered errors when trying to register for the marathon online.
