Casperson Wins Small Business Award

The country’s largest organization dedicated to small businesses has national honors for a U.P. state rep.

Tom Casperson has just received an award from the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

It’s the Guardian of Small Business award.

Officials say down in Lansing this year, the group scored Casperson at 100% in his voting record on bills affecting small businesses.

He’s said to be the only state representative from the U.P. who did that.

Casperson owns a small business himself, a trucking company.

He can’t run for another term in the state legislature because of term limits, so instead, he’s the Republican nominee seeking Bart Stupak’s seat in Congress.

Michigan’s 1st Congressional district covers all of the U.P. and part of the northern Lower Peninsula as well.
