Charter Schools Conference
A local university is keeping educators from throughout Michigan up to date with school curriculum.
Northern Michigan University authorized 5 charter schools throughout the state for use.
3 of the 5 are in the U.P.
Board members from all 5 schools are meeting at NMU today and tomorrow to talk about how things are going, in addition to learning new teaching techniques for their own schools.
Charter schools are sometimes referred to as choice schools, because students and their families choose to go to them.
Unlike regular school systems, charter schools don’t enroll students based on ZIP codes and proximity to the school’s location.
THIS is the first time NMU has ever held a conference for the 5 charter schools.
