Northern Nights music fusion
The world of music is coming to Marquette.
Northern Nights performing arts series kicks off this weekend with a fusion of musical entertainment.
The musical performances will include music from across the world and from a wide variety of musical genres: Indian, jazz–funk, African guitar, classical fiddle, and Celtic music with a flair of Latin.
“We’re probably the most diverse concert series in bringing in artists like this,” Northern Nights coordinator Dan Truckey said. “It’s so important because the U.P. is a beautiful place but we are far away from the rest of the world and it’s an opportunity to bring the world to the U.P. We are trying to reflect rural cultures and American culture.
“We have folk music and singer–songwriters and jazz artists, sometimes it might be a dance troop. People stop me in the street and say hey, I went to that concert you put on and it was incredible, that’s just such a great feeling.”
