NEWBERRY — A plea agreement was entered for one suspect and a sentence was handed down for another in two Newberry drug cases.
41-year-old Kenneth Collins of Newberry pleaded guilty to one count of delivery of less than fifty grams of a controlled substance and one count of controlled substance – counterfeit substance. He was originally charged with six drug–related counts. He will be sentenced on June 2nd. Collins was arrested after an investigation by UPSET East in late January that resulted in the arrest of three suspects.
26-year-old Sara Nelson, also arrested during that investigation, was sentenced to 11 months in jail and 18 months probation, plus another eight months in jail in a second case. Those sentences will be served concurrently. Nelson pleaded guilty to delivery of less than fifty grams of a controlled substance in both of those cases.
