MICHIGAMME — A Northern Michigan University graduate will have her work on display at a local art gallery through the end of September.

Meegan Flannery’s exhibit, named ‘Undomesticated’, is at the Michigamme Moonshine Gallery. Flannery graduated from NMU with an art degree.

She grew up in the Trout Lake area and currently lives in Harvey. Flannery specializes in oil paintings.

“My work is mostly about things that I’ve experienced, primarily animals because I tend to gravitate toward animals,” said Flannery. “I love to play with bright color, play with movement and paints and shapes, kind of abstract it a little bit.”

“Her paintings are totally expressionistic and her colors are explosive,” said Friederike Roach of the Moonshine Art Gallery. “She makes a lot of nature studies, Sandhill Cranes, different animals and cityscapes.”

Flannery’s display runs through Sept 26. There will be a special reception at the Art Gallery this Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
