MSHS Courtyard Renovation
Students at Marquette Senior High School are trying to get each other outdoors by developing more green space at the school.
The high school’s courtyard consists mostly of concrete, with a small number of trees and other plants.
But the school’s Environmental Club hosted a groundbreaking this afternoon on a renovation project.
Environmental Club president Scott Kalishek says they, and their faculty adviser, wanted to do something to make the courtyard a more appealing place.
Students have not been using the courtyard in its current configuration.
Kalishek says the goal is to remove the concrete by the end of the academic year and do the planting next year.
Closner Construction of Marquette is lending its services to the high school during the project.
