Winter Parking Bans In Effect

The first official day of winter may still be more a month away, but today is the first day of the winter parking ban in a number of U.P. communities.

In Marquette, the ban will be in place through April 1st.

That means there’s no on–street parking from 1am to 6am.

Marquette Police Capt. Blake Rieboldt says even though snow isn’t on the ground yet, it’s important to start parking like there is — cars can be towed for violating the ban even without any flakes.

If you get a ticket, you have 14 days to pay before the fine increases from $50 to $55.

If you’re renting a home or an apartment, it’s important to contact your landlord about the parking situation in the winter for your building.
