Car Thefts Increasing with Warmer Weather
It could be a sign of the economic times.
It could be a sign of the warmer weather, but police agencies across the U.P. say reports of vehicle larcenies are on the rise.
In Marquette this morning, police issued a stolen vehicle alert.
A pickup was stolen sometime between midnight and 9:30 this morning.
It was parked on the 800 block of West Bluff Street.
Police say the truck was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.
The truck is described as a green 1996 Chevrolet extended-cab with a matching camper top.
The Michigan registration is WAGDAG1.
If you know anything about this vehicle theft, call the Marquette Police at 228–0400.
They say they deal with this situation several times a year.
In Iron Mountain, several complaints have been file with the Police Department about valuables and other items being stolen from unlocked vehicles.
Authorities suggest locking your vehicles at all times and removing or hiding any valuables.
