Blackrocks Brewery pushes back anniversary celebration

MARQUETTE — The Blackrocks Brewery in Marquette holds an anniversary celebration every year since it opened. But this year, things have changed.

Blackrocks Brewery opened its doors on December 28, 2010. The brewery celebrates their opening every year. Originally, the anniversary celebration was scheduled for December 21 but is now being pushed back until this upcoming summer because of space issues and low temperatures.

“We started having our anniversary party at our production facility over on Washington Street,” said Steve Farr, Pirate of Propaganda at Blackrocks Brewery. “However, as we got more and more equipment to make more and more beer, we lost the inside space. Then we didn’t have enough space to hold the party. We then moved it over to the pub and we open up the outside patio. However we had a party outside in the middle of December, it was definitely cold. We had some heaters but we figured it would just be nice to post–pone the party until the summer when we can open up the full outside patio, everyone can be comfortable and we can get some food trucks, some live music.”

Even though Blackrocks is not having its celebration this weekend, they hope to still see people there having a good time.
