Man cited for striking pedestrian with vehicle
BESSEMER — On Thursday, May 3rd at approximately 11:10 A.M. deputies from the Gogebic COunty Sheriff’s Office responded to a car and pedestrian accident in Bessemer.
A Gogebic County Road Commission employee, identified as 52-year-old Donald Grbavcich, had been struck by a vehicle while refilling potholes. He attempted to jump out of the way when a co-worker warned him, but was unable to get out of the path of the vehicle. Grbavich has on his reflective vest and he vehicle had all of the necessary lights on. he was transported to Aspirus Grand View for treatment of his injuries.
The driver, 84-year-old Floyd Erickson, said he did not see Grbavcich or his vehicle until it was too late. He was cited for Careless Driving and Moving Violation Causing Injury in a Work Zone.
