U.P. native wins Mini Miss Michigan, now moving on to bigger competition
ISHPEMING — One Ishpeming baby that is a true showstopper will be competing for the title of Baby Miss America this upcoming February.
10-month old Charlie Beaudry was first entered into the Mini Miss Michigan competition which she won without a breeze. Next stop is New Orleans and the Beaudry family is holding a fundraiser to ensure that Charlie makes it down there.
“I sent in her picture in September I believe it was and I got a notification in December that saying that she has been picked to represent Michigan in the mini miss division. She will go to New Orleans in February to compete for Baby Miss America,” said Charlie’s Mother, Jenia Beaudry.
The family of eight will be driving down to New Orleans and the competition covers the housing costs while in the city. Traveling with six children can get expensive but the family is looking for other ways to minimize the total cost of the trip.
“They actually have four categories in the competition. She’ll be wearing four different outfits, which my friend Amanda is making for her, handmade and no buying, she is making them from scratch,” said Beaudry.
These four categories include the 1950’s, Minnie Mouse, Mardi Gras, and Princess. The competition itself will be held from February 11th through the 16th. The fundraiser to get Charlie down to New Orleans is on January 21st at the Ishpeming VFW from 2 P.M. through 6 P.M.
Anyone is invited to stop by and participate in the door prizes and raffles to give Charlie the rightful title of Baby Miss America.
