Bank celebrates 100 years

ESCANABA– A local bank threw a rocking birthday party today.

First bank in Escanaba is celebrating their one hundredth anniversary this week. The celebrations culminated today with a customer appreciation picnic.Cloudy weather couldn’t stop people from coming out to enjoy food, games, a bouncy house and prizes.

First Bank CEO and President Tom Makisays attributed their success to their customers.

“I mean that customers have done so much so much for us that we want to give back, he said, “we’re so happy that we’ve been able to give the opportunity serve all the financial needs of our customers.”

First Bank opened in Gladstone in nineteen–sixteen and now has locations in Escanaba and Garden as well. Earlier events this week included appearances from local racers, root beer floats and a penny war fundraiser that raised money for a local food pantry.
