Women accused of passing drugs to jail inmate case moves forward
HOUGHTON — The case against two Houghton County women accused of passing drugs to a jail inmate is moving forward. ABC 10’s Rick Allen has the details.
29–year–old Jamie Ekdahl of Calumet and 35–year–old Sarah McMahon of Laurium both appeared in 97th District Court Wednesday.
They are charged with Delivery/Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, a felony punishable by up to 7 years in prison; and Furnishing Contraband to Prisoners, a 5 year felony.
In April, authorities say the women allegedly tried to give a controlled substance to an inmate at the Houghton County Jail after he appeared for a court hearing.
Ekdahl and McMahon waived their preliminary hearings and were bound over to Circuit Court where they are expected to enter a plea to the charges.
They are currently lodged in the Houghton County Jail on $10,000 cash bonds.
