Project Feed a Neighbor is back
ISHPEMING — An event that’s all about giving back to other people in the community is gearing up to do it again.
Project Feed a Neighbor is back for the seventh year in a row. The event collects food for people living in the Ishpeming, Negaunee, and Tilden Township areas to name a few.
All of the food collected in the area will stay in the area. But before the food is collected a week from Saturday, volunteers will be out and about tomorrow prepping for the event.
Project Coordinator Richard Derby says, “Going out to the neighborhoods in Ishpeming and Negaunee, and going out as far as the Tilden Township area and the Nation Mine down south on 581, distributing over 7,000 bags with what we now think is kind of our pink fluorescent label, with direction on how to support Project Feed a Neighbor.”
Students from Ishpeming and Westwood High Schools are among the volunteers that will be passing out thousands of the pink bags for people to fill up with non–perishable food items.
