Letter to states encourages Iran sanctions
LANSING — A state official has voiced his opposition to the Iran nuclear deal.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette joined his Oklahoma counterpart, Scott Pruitt, in issuing a letter to state governors to encourage the imposition of state-based sanctions against Iran. The letter cites human rights abuses and the support of terrorism as reasons for individual states to consider implementing or continuing such sanctions.
The letter also says that the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act of 2010 would not allow any such sanctions to be opposed by federal laws or regulations.
