MARQUETTE — In just a few weeks, hockey players will step off of the ice and onto the streets.

The sixth annual Hockey on Third parade will go down North Third Street and loop back toward NMU on Arch and Front streets. The parade is filled with several local businesses, dozens of hockey teams, and hundreds of fans that all love hockey.

“We recognize that hockey has been a long standing tradition in the city of Marquette and we want to help celebrate that,” said DDA Promotion and Events Coordinator Tara Laase-McKinney, “it’s just a really good way to kind of let the community know how many hockey players there are, and there’s quite a few.”

The parade also marks the beginning for a popular tournament that features some of the most experienced players in the area.

“They’re out on this parade, partially in conjunction with the Old Timers Hockey Tournament and partially just as a celebration of our local hockey heritage and all things hockey.”
